Welcome to NotifyLearn. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our web application and browser extension.

1. Information We Collect

The NotifyLearn service and extension collect the following types of information to provide and improve our core functionality:

• Account Information: Email addresses and authentication data provided during sign-up to manage your account.
• Saved Content: The URLs, basic page details, and manual tags you actively choose to save to your NotifyLearn account.
• Saved Images: Images you choose to paste, upload, or otherwise save to your NotifyLearn account, along with any caption and tags you add and basic file details (dimensions, size, and format). Only the images you actively choose to save are collected.
• Contextual Data (Extension): The URL of your active tab is occasionally checked against your saved learning resources to trigger relevant context-aware learning reminders. We do not arbitrarily track or save your broader browsing history.

2. How We Use Information

We act as a data processor for the information you provide. We strictly use your information to:

• Provide the core functionality of the NotifyLearn service (saving links and images, categorizing content, and sending daily digest emails).
• Enable the browser extension to show timely, context-aware reminders when you browse sites related to your saved links.
• Authenticate your account through secure API communication.

3. Browser Extension Permissions

Our Chrome extension requires specific permissions to operate. We adhere strictly to the principle of least privilege:

• activeTab & tabs: Used to read the URL of tabs as you navigate to determine if the current site matches a saved learning context, and to provide the "Save Link" functionality.
• alarms: Facilitates non-persistent background tasks, such as syncing learning lists, to save your system resources.
• contextMenus: Enables the quick "Save to NotifyLearn" right-click option.
• notifications: Allows the extension to show system-level and in-page reminders.
• storage: Used to securely persist authentication tokens and local extension state (like cooldown timers).

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We will only share data when required by law to comply with legal processes. Information is encrypted in transit and stored securely on our servers.

Images you save are stored with our third-party image storage provider, Cloudinary, which processes them on our behalf. Saved images are served from a web link, so anyone who has an image link can view that image. Please avoid saving images containing sensitive information that you would not want others to see. Deleting an image from your account also removes it from our storage.

5. Third-Party Links

The pages you save will naturally contain links to third-party sites. Our service is a bookmarking and reminder tool; we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites you save.
